Mechanics On The Trent is dedicated to keeping our customers boating.
We take your boating time seriously. Whether we are doing a simple tune up to a full blown rebuild, we want to get you back on the water as quickly as we can. If possible, its best to work from our shop but if on site repairs are necessary we are ready to travel. We keep a good inventory of frequently used parts and normally can have parts shipped next day if needed.
Preventative maintenance is often ignored in the marine industry. Most boaters pay no attention to, or are uniformed about scheduled maintenance, until there is a problem. We like to inform our customers when work is required or factory recommended to decrease the chance of expensive repairs later.
Some preventative maintenance services include the following:
TUNE UPS
From just a simple tune up of plugs, cap and rotor to a full tune up with wires, filters, carb cleaning etc. A properly tuned engine will reduce fuel consumption and is better for the environment. We recommend every 2 years or 200 hours.
Water Pump Repairs
From just replacing the impeller to rebuilding the sea water pump. Not all water pump impellers are created equal or perform the same in different conditions. Most manufacturers recommend impellers should be changed every 200 hours, or if overheating or reduced water flow is observed.
Replacements
Replacing anodes, on outdrives, inboard shafts and trim tabs. This is such an over looked area. Sacrificial anodes protect your running gear from corrosion that eats away at metals underwater. They should be inspected annually and replaced when 50% gone.
